A series of recurring thefts at the Gazipur Sadar Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital has sparked widespread concern and suspicion.

Despite the presence of security guards in the immediate vicinity, criminals have repeatedly managed to make off with valuable government property, leaving the local administration in an embarrassing position.

What has raised the most eyebrows is the proximity of the crime scene to the District Livestock Office and the District Artificial Insemination Office—located a mere 15 feet away. Although two night guards are stationed there, they have reportedly failed to notice or prevent these frequent incursions.

The Losses

According to official complaints and departmental letters, the most recent heist involved the theft of CCTV cameras, Submersiblecables for water pumps, SS pipes and other essential office equipment.

A Pattern of Negligence?

The formal complaint notes that miscreants enter the office premises under the cover of night. Local residents and stakeholders find the situation "mysterious," suggesting that such consistent thefts right under the noses of security personnel may point toward internal information leaks or extreme professional negligence.

Inaction Despite Prior Reports

Official sources stated that this is not an isolated incident. While the local police station was informed of previous thefts, no effective preventive measures or breakthroughs have been reported so far.

This lack of action has left the office vulnerable and raised questions about the overall security of the government complex. "We are deeply concerned about the security of our office.

The repeated thefts are hindering our official operations. We have formally requested the relevant authorities to take immediate action and strengthen security protocols," said the Upazila Livestock Officer, Gazipur Sadar.

Public Demand

The local community has called for a thorough investigation to uncover the mystery behind these thefts. They emphasized that the brazen theft of CCTV cameras themselves indicates an organized crime ring. Residents are demanding a permanent increase in security patrols and accountability for those tasked with guarding the premises.
