The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in coordination with mobile courts, seized over 22,000 liters of illegally stored edible oil during raids across Chattogram city. Officials also filed cases and imposed fines against the businesses involved.

RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) A.R.M. Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the operation on Wednesday morning. He stated that unscrupulous traders had been hoarding oil to create an artificial market crisis. Acting on confidential tips, RAB conducted the drive alongside the District Administration and BSTI in Oxygen Mor, Nasirabad, and the Karnaphuli Complex area.

On the night of April 7, a raid in the Gulbagh residential area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station uncovered 1,042 liters of soybean oil. A case was subsequently filed against the warehouse owner.

In a follow-up operation late that night in the Sholashahar Gate No. 2 area, officials discovered 21,600 liters of illegally stored oil across two establishments. The mobile court fined the owners Tk 60,000. RAB officials confirmed that such drives will continue to stabilize the market.
