


The Paikgachha Upazila Parishad held its monthly general meeting on Monday morning, March 30, to address critical administrative and security issues. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury, the session took place at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
The meeting focused on a wide range of public interest topics
Strategies to curb drug trafficking (specifically marijuana), theft, and teenage gang culture involving reckless motorcycling.
Implementation of police check posts, fire service readiness, and addressing hospital manpower shortages.
Plans to increase watermelon and Rabi crop production, managing farmer incentives, and monitoring fertilizer distribution to prevent syndicates.
Measures to prevent "eve teasing," child marriage, and the resolution of land disputes and illegal occupation of government property.
Controlling price hikes of essential goods, dengue prevention, and managing brackish water concerns.
Key officials in attendance included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Fazle Rabbi, Health Officer Dr. Ahsanara Binte Ahmed, and OC Md. Golam Kibria, alongside various union parishad chairmen, political leaders, and media representatives.
Following the discussion, UNO Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury distributed rainwater harvesting equipment to local beneficiaries on the parishad premises to assist with water conservation.
