A tragic drowning incident in Narail’s Kalia upazila has left one child dead and another missing.

On Saturday (March 28), two young girls—Ariya (7), daughter of expatriate Abdullah Sheikh, and Maria (8), daughter of Enayet Sheikh—went to bathe in the Chitra river near their homes in Mahishkhola village. During the bath, both children were swept away and disappeared.

Local residents and family members immediately launched a search operation. Maria’s body was later recovered near the Jadavpur Kheyaghat area. As of Saturday afternoon, Ariya remains missing, and local volunteers are continuing their search efforts in the river.
