10 Arrested in Gazipur Police Drive Over Weapons and Drug Cases

Police have arrested 10 people in a special drive in Gazipur over allegations linked to weapons, drugs and other criminal cases. They were sent to court on Friday.

The operation was carried out on Thursday night in several areas under Basan Police Station, including Itahata, Dighirchala and Chandana intersection.

Among those arrested are Md. Ashiq (28) of Itahata and Md. Ariful Islam Babu (33), originally from Dinajpur. Others include Sunjurul Islam Sinhaj alias Shihab (28) of Faridpur, Md. Rubel (35) of Dighirchala, Md. Shafiqul Islam (30) of Sherpur, Kazi Riaz (25) of Naljani, Md. Kausar Mia (30) of Habiganj, Mostafizur Rahman (30), Md. Anwar Hossain (27) of Kumardoba, and Joynal Abedin (35) of Chandana.

Basan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun Or Rashid said two of the detainees are convicted in drug-related cases, three are accused in CR cases, and five are facing arms-related charges.

All of them were sent to jail through the court on Friday afternoon.

Police said such drives will continue to maintain law and order in the area.
