Genocide Day observed in Kurigram

Kurigram observed Genocide Day on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, with solemnity and respect. To mark the occasion, a discussion meeting was held at 10:30 am in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Debnath, the event featured prominent local figures including District Council Administrator Sohel Hossain Kaikobad, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Kudrat-e-Khuda, and Additional Superintendent of Police Muktaruzzan.

Speakers at the event included Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. A.N.M. Mohaymen, Bir Pratik Abdul Hai, District BNP Convener Mostafafizar Rahman, and Jamaat District Secretary Nizam Uddin. Representatives from the local media, including Kurigram Press Club General Secretary Mahfuzar Rahman Khandaker and District Press Club President Aniruddha Reza, were also in attendance.

The speakers paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 genocide. They highlighted the historical significance of the night of March 25 and emphasized the importance of passing the true history of the Liberation War’s great sacrifices down to the younger generation. Government officials, political leaders, and members of various professional organizations participated in the discussion.
