The General Manager of the Eastern Zone of Bangladesh Railway, Engineer Md. Subaktagin, has inspected preparations at Chattogram Railway Station to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.

During the visit, he reviewed the overall arrangements at the station, including platforms, ticket counters, passenger rest rooms and train technical facilities.

After the inspection, Subaktagin told officials that Bangladesh Railway is preparing to manage the increased passenger pressure during the Eid travel period and ensure better services for travellers.

He stressed the importance of maintaining train schedules and instructed authorities to take strict action against ticket black marketing. He also directed officials to ensure proper lighting, clean drinking water and improved cleanliness at the station for passenger convenience.

The railway authorities have planned several measures to handle the expected rush. These include introducing special train services and adding extra coaches to regular intercity trains.

Security measures will also be strengthened. The General Manager instructed officials to increase patrols by the Bangladesh Railway Police and Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) to ensure passenger safety and protect their belongings.

Senior railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager of the Eastern Zone, were present during the inspection.

Railway authorities hope that improved planning and monitoring will make this year’s Eid travel safer and more comfortable for passengers compared to previous years.
