Memorial held in Lohagara for former Mayor Ashraful Alam

A memorial and prayer meeting was held in memory of former mayor of Lohagara Municipality, the late Ashraful Alam, in Lohagara. The event was organised by the Lohagara Sanatani Samaj at the Nat Mandir premises of Lakshmipasha Sri Sri Siddheshwari Kalimata Temple on Saturday (March 7) at 2 pm.

The meeting was chaired by Tapan Biswas, former treasurer of the temple’s board of directors and convener of the memorial committee. It was moderated by senior journalist and associate editor Rupak Mukherjee.

Speakers at the event included Shivprasad Bhattacharya, Madan Mohan Bhadra, Kishore Roy, Kajal Pal, Asim Roy, Niranjan Biswas, Partha Das and Ibrahim Mollah, among others.

The prayer session was conducted by temple priest Sukanta Chatterjee Biplob.

After the memorial and prayer meeting, prasad was distributed among devotees.

Later in the evening, a Harinam Sankirtan was organised in memory of the late former mayor. Prasad was also distributed among devotees following the Naam Sankirtan.
