State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Friday said prices of essential goods during the holy month of Ramadan must be kept at a tolerable level, and public safety must be ensured for everyone, regardless of political affiliation.

She made the remarks at a meeting with government officials and employees at the conference room of the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Friday afternoon.

Shama Obaid Islam said her party believes in serving all people equally. “We want to work as servants of the people. During Ramadan, special attention must be given to market monitoring so that ordinary citizens are not burdened,” she said.

She also stressed the need to prevent mob violence and any deterioration of law and order. Addressing the district and police administrations, the minister said firm action must be taken against criminals whenever law and order is threatened, without considering party identity.

“Police investigations must be impartial. No innocent person should suffer, and the real culprits must be brought to justice. Human security should never be seen through a party lens,” she added.

The meeting was chaired by Shahidul Islam Babul, Member of Parliament for Faridpur-4. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla, the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner, spoke as a special guest.

Others who addressed the meeting included Superintendent of Police Md Nazrul Islam, District BNP leader Modarres Ali Icha, BNP Member Secretary AK Kibria Swapan, and Faridpur Press Club President Kabirul Islam Siddiqui, along with senior officials from various government departments.
