A protest and human chain have been formed in Raipur, Lakshmipur, demanding the arrest of those involved in the brutal beating to death of college student Ashraful Islam with a hammer after drug dealers were handed over to the police. The event was organized at Khaserhat in Uttar Charbangshi Union of the upazila around 11 am on Wednesday (February 18). Even though a month has passed since the murder, 7 accused in the case are still at large.

Meanwhile, the sky became heavy with the cries of Ashraful's mother Nigar Sultana, who participated in the human chain. Even though a month has passed since her son's death, her tears have not stopped.

The mother was crying, 'I will not go to court, my father will go, please stop the crying in my chest, if you call me a little mother, I will die, I will beg (beg) and your money will be wasted on my father, my father is my father, I have one father, they have 10, I have no one else'.

At this time, North Charbangshi Union BNP Joint General Secretary Gazi Mohammad Mohiuddin, Union Chhatra Dal President Adnan Habib, deceased Ashraful's father Azizul Haque, local Antara Akhter and KM Saleh Ahmed spoke.

Ashraful's maternal uncle KM Saleh Ahmed said that Ashraful was brutally beaten with a hammer after he cooperated with the police to catch some drug dealers in the area. We want the speedy hanging of these murderers.

Ashraful had one brother among five sisters. But the drug dealers killed him. In this incident, his sister Antara Akhter said, "My brother was brutally killed after being called from his house. All the accused have not been caught yet."

Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahin Mia said that the law enforcement agencies have arrested four accused in the case. Out of these, three have confessed to the murder and given statements in court under Section 164. The evidence used in the murder was seized from the arrested Shahin. A drive is underway to arrest the other accused.

Incidentally, the statement in this case mentions that Ashraful was a resident of Charbangshi village in the upazila and a final-year degree student of Raipur Rustom Ali College. On January 14, the accused, including Nahid Bepari and Shahin Bepari, beat him with country-made weapons, injured him and attempted to kill him by strangling him. Upon receiving information, Ashraful was rescued and taken to a hospital in Dhaka. In this incident, Ashraful's father Azizul filed a case with the police station on January 16. After that, the police arrested Shahin Bepari in a raid. Ashraful died on January 20 while undergoing treatment on life support at New Life Hospital on Green Road in the capital. On the night of January 23, RAB-11 arrested three people, including Shakil and Sohag Bepari, from the Bhulta Gausia area of ​​Rupganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
