The International Rishi Kumbh and Kumbh Mela Celebration Council held a briefing with local journalists in Bashkhali on Saturday evening to discuss preparations for the upcoming 22nd International Rishi Kumbh Mela.
The meeting, held at Rishi Dham in Gunagari, was presided over by Shrimat Swami Sachchidananda Puri Maharaj, Mohant of Rishi Dham and Tulsidham. Council Convener Advocate Anupam Biswas chaired the session, which included leaders from Shri Guru Sangha, Rishi Advaitananda Parishad, and the Bashkhali Press Club.
Addressing the media, Swami Sachchidananda Puri Maharaj noted that Bashkhali Rishi Dham has hosted Bangladesh's only Rishi Kumbh Mela since its inception in 1957 by Swami Advaitananda Puri Maharaj.
"This holy gathering brings together lakhs of devotees, sages, and scholars from various countries," he said. "It is a space where spiritual boundaries dissolve into a sense of vastness and generosity. The media plays a vital role in ensuring this significant event is completed successfully."
The 11-day festival officially begins on Friday, January 23, with a grand procession at the Rishi Dham. Held every three years, the Mela is expected to attract devotees and spiritual leaders from India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka.
