A moderate cold wave is blowing over the northern district of Panchagarh at the end of Paush. The temperature has dropped to 7 degrees Celsius.
The district has been feeling the chill of winter for the past few days. Although a moderate cold wave is blowing, the sun has been visible since morning. However, there is fog with cold winds from night to the next morning. This has put the low-income people of the district in trouble along with the common people.
The Meteorological Office said that Tentulia in Panchagarh has recorded the lowest temperature in the country for the past five days. Sometimes a mild cold wave blows, while at other times a moderate cold wave blows over the district.
The lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Tentulia at 9 am on Tuesday (January 13). The humidity was 91 percent at that time. The wind speed was 8 to 10 kilometers per hour.
Earlier, temperatures were recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius on Friday (January 9), 8.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday (January 10), 7.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday (January 11), and 8.4 degrees Celsius on Monday (January 12).
Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said that during this time of winter, the maximum temperature during the day is fluctuating between 21 and 28 degrees. At the same time, the mountain frosty wind blowing from the northwest during the night and day is making it feel bitterly cold. The intensity of the winter may remain throughout the month of January.
