


A mourning and prayer mahfil has been held at the Madhyapara hard rock mine in Dinajpur, like the rest of the country, on the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The program was organized by the country's only productive stone mining contractor GTC (Germania-Trust Consortium).
GTC Chairman Dr. Sirajul Islam Kazi, General Manager Javed Siddiqui and senior officials of the organization expressed deep sorrow over the death of Begum Khaleda Zia. In light of the government announcement, three days of mourning and a day off on Wednesday were declared.
A prayer mahfil and Quran recitation were organized at the Madhyapara Central Jama Masjid on Tuesday evening to pray for the forgiveness of the deceased's soul. The ceremony was attended by GTC officials and employees, as well as workers from various levels of the mine. The prayer mahfil was conducted by the mosque's Pesh Imam, Maulana Md. Didarul Islam. The speakers at the event prayed for the peace of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
