Multimedia Reporters Unity President Naeem, Secretary Misbah Elected

The newly elected committee has been elected as the president of the committee - Shahriar Naeem of Daily JaiJaidin, vice-presidents Islam Uddin Talukder of Swadhin Sangbad and Zakir Islam of My TV, and general secretary Mizbah Uddin of Daily Niropekkho.

The Multimedia Reporters Unity (MRU)-2026 elections have been held. The elections were held in a festive atmosphere at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Monday (December 22).

A total of 41 candidates are contesting against 21 posts in the election. However, four were elected unopposed.

The newly elected committee has been elected as the president of the committee - Shahriar Naeem of Daily JaiJaidin, vice-presidents Islam Uddin Talukder of Swadhin Sangbad and Zakir Islam of My TV, and general secretary Mizbah Uddin of Daily Niropekkho.

Joint General Secretary Banglanews24.com's Jahirul Islam Ratul, Organizing Secretary Daily Kaler Kantho's Mostafizur Rahman Milon, Co-Organizing Secretary Desh Panthopur Mohammad Khoka, Finance Secretary Daily Janabani's Jannatur Rahman, Office Secretary Asia Bani's Yasin Arafat, Publicity Secretary Shomo Chitra's Ismail Hossain, Literature and Publication Secretary Green TV's Yasin Arafat, Information Technology and Training Secretary Nagorik TV's Syed Mahbub, Sports Secretary Pratidin Bangladesh's Sainul Nur, Cultural Secretary Asia Bani's Arafat Hossain Himel, Social Service Secretary Matribhumir Khabar's Bijoy Ahmed, Health Environment and Hospitality Secretary Daily Destiny's Solaiman Sumon.

The executive members are Pratidin Bangladesh's Swadhin Rana, Daily Niropekkho's Shahin Alam Joy, Sangbad Prabhaw's Al Amin Khan, Asian TV's Abul Khair and My TV's Ismail Sarkar.

Voting began at 9 am and continued till 4 pm. Later, the Election Commission officially announced the results at around 8 pm. Chief Election Commissioner and General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity Mainul Hasan Sohel wished the newly elected committee continued success and at the same time urged all the newly elected committee members to work towards building a beautiful Bangladesh in the future.

In the election, multiple candidates are contesting for important posts of the executive committee including the president and general secretary. Candidates for four posts including the joint general secretary were elected unopposed.

Newly elected president Shahriar Naeem said, “This victory is not for a single person, it is for the entire MRU family. Our main goal is to ensure the professional dignity, safety and training of multimedia journalists.”

General Secretary Misbah Uddin said, “We will work together to achieve the rights of journalists. MRU will be more active and stronger in facing the challenges of digital and multimedia journalism.”

The newly elected committee leaders promised to enhance the professional status of multimedia journalists, ensure safety in the workplace, realize fair rights, and further accelerate the organization's activities.
