Germania-Trust Consortium (GTC), the mine's contractor, has provided scholarships to the children of workers working in the Madhyapara stone mine in Dinajpur who are studying in higher education.
The scholarships were distributed at the GTC Charity Home premises built for the local people at the mouth of the Madhyapara stone mine at 3 pm on Sunday. As part of GTC's social activities, monthly scholarship money was distributed among 52 students of workers working under the mine who are studying in higher education. The scholarship money was handed over to the students and guardians by Deputy General Manager Md. Zahid Hossain on behalf of Executive Director Md. Jabed Siddiqui of Germania-Trust Consortium (GTC). GTC's Head of Security and Workers Welfare Major (Retd.) Md. Ruhul Amin was present at the time.
It is learned that Germania Corporation Limited, the only domestic mining company engaged in the management, maintenance and production of Madhyapara stone mine, and the Germania-Trust Consortium (GTC), a joint venture of a Belarusian company, have been conducting various social and service activities for the welfare of the workers working under them and the people of the mining area.
As part of this, a monthly scholarship program has been started for the children of the workers studying in higher education. In addition, the 'GTC Charity Home' has been established to conduct various social activities including providing free medical consultation services to the residents of the mining area.
It is worth noting that free health consultation services are being provided to the people of the mining area five days a week through an experienced MBBS doctor at the GTC Charity Home. On an average, about fifty patients from the mining area are receiving this service every day.
The GTC authorities have sought cooperation from various quarters to ensure greater participation in social activities in the area.
