BNP Joint Secretary General and Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency candidate Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said, in Saudi Arabia, people give a good name to Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. And they call Sheikh Hasina 'Kajjab'. That means Hasina is a liar. And they call Khaleda Zia good. They say that Ziaur Rahman is the leader of the Muslim Ummah in that country. Ziaur Rahman was a popular leader at home and abroad.

He said these things as the chief guest in a courtyard meeting organized with women voters at Bhabaniganj Degree College ground in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila on Friday (November 28) afternoon.

Anee said, our brave boys had to fight against the Pak army. Ziaur Rahman led this war. He called for independence from the Kalurghat radio station in Chittagong. He announced on the radio - everyone who has everything in their hands should go to war. We will be one and united against Pakistan. He made Bangladesh independent by fighting. Ziaur Rahman is the leader of the liberation war, the leader of the freedom fighters. He fought with weapons in the battlefield and led the brave boys of Bengal.

He also said, I have served many jail terms while doing student politics. They shot me in the forehead. They vandalized my house. They are torturing my two sons. The police attacked. They went to my house and arrested me and beat me up and took me to the police station. Even then, I did not bow down. I am not the kind of person to bow down to injustice.

District BNP members Hafizur Rahman, Abul Hashem, Sadar (East) Upazila BNP President Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, District Ulama Dal President Shah Md. Emran, District Women's Dal President Sabera Anwar, General Secretary Fatema Akhter Sumi Bhuiyan and others were present at the time.
