On 23 November 2025, Department of Botany of the University of Dhaka and the Dhaka University Botany Alumni Association (DUBAA) jointly organised an 'Eminent Botanist Award and Seminar' event in the Department's central gallery.

In the event, the DUBAA honoured a former student of the Department Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Hannan with the Eminent Botanist Award. Prof. Hannan who is currently a Research Consultant at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia delivered a superb seminar titled 'Drug Development from Natural Products'.

With Prof. Z.N. Tahmida Begum, Vice President of the DUBAA, as the chief guest, the event was chaired by Mr. M.A. Bari, Vice President of the DUBAA. Prof. Md. Abul Bashar, General Secretary, DUBAA and Prof. Ashfaque Ahmed, Chairman of Botany Department spoke at the event. The event was attended by members of the DUBAA, teachers of the Department, students, and guests from different organisations.

The Dhaka University Botany Alumni Association (DUBAA) was established in 2015 as a platform of former students of Botany of the University of Dhaka. It has been relentlessly working for the alumni, the current botany students, and the Department through different socio-cultural, environmental, and academic activities.
