The "Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Drive 2026" has been launched in Madhupur and Dhanbari, Tangail as part of the nationwide effort to curb dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. The programme was inaugurated virtually at 9:00 AM Saturday alongside the rest of the country.
In Madhupur a discussion meeting followed at the Upazila Parishad conference room, presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Saiful Islam with Upazila BNP President Zakir Hossain Sarkar as chief guest. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nayeem Uddin, Upazila Health and Family Planning Assistant Officer Sajib Kanti Pal, Upazila Agriculture Officer Momtaz Begum and several other local officials and representatives also attended.
Speakers stressed that dengue prevention cannot succeed through administrative action alone it requires collective public awareness. They urged residents to keep homes and surroundings clean and regularly clear stagnant water from flower pots, discarded containers, coconut shells and construction sites.
Simultaneously the drive was launched in Dhanbari Upazila and its municipality, inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Municipal Administrator Dil Afroze. A follow-up discussion meeting featured Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mamun Hasan, Agriculture Officer Masudur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Md. Mokaddes Ali, Municipal Executive Officer Debashish Das and Municipal Conservancy Inspector Bishwanath Bhadra.
Both events form part of the countrywide three-month campaign aimed at eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and promoting cleanliness ahead of the peak dengue season.
