


The main Eid-ul-Azha congregation in Chittagong will be held at 8:00am at the gymnasium ground adjacent to Chittagong District Stadium under the overall management of the Central Eid Jamaat Committee and the district administration.
The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, chaired by Chittagong Central Eid Jamaat Committee President and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Sharif Uddin and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Pathan Md. Saiduzzaman attended the meeting as special guests.
Committee Secretary General Saleh Ahmed Suleman presented the welcome speech and annual report. He said the committee regularly organizes Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha congregations and carries out social welfare activities, including relief distribution during disasters and support for disadvantaged women.
He sought cooperation from all concerned to ensure smooth arrangements for the upcoming Eid prayers.
The committee chairman thanked the district administration for arranging facilities, including the prayer pandal, tripod and fans, using government funds to ensure comfortable prayer arrangements for worshippers.
The meeting decided that Allama Dr. Syed Abu Noman, former principal of Baitush Sharaf Adarsh Senior Kamil Madrasa, will lead the Eid congregation as Imam. Mufti Muhammad Nurunnabi was selected as the alternate Imam.
Officials also confirmed that prayer schedules and Imams for the city’s other 94 regional Eid congregations will be determined by their respective local committees, as in previous years.
The committee treasurer presented the income and expenditure report for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026, which was approved unanimously.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said the Eid-ul-Azha congregation would be organized with modern management and necessary preparations to ensure a dignified and orderly celebration. He also assured the committee that steps would be taken to address its remaining demands after Eid.
Several committee leaders and members spoke at the meeting, including vice-chairmen Adv. Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, Shahzada Md. Enayet Ullah Khan, Principal Allama Dr. Syed Abu Noman and others.
