Police recovered the body of a 20-year-old woman from the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) campus on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Rita Akhter, a resident of the CDA Noapara area under Pahartali Police Station in Chattogram city.
Law enforcement recovered the body around 9:30 pm on Saturday (May 23) and sent it to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for an autopsy.
Mohammad Arifur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), stated that the body was found on the ground directly beneath the university hospital building. The victim had sustained severe, fatal head injuries.
"The exact cause of death is still under investigation," said the OC. "We are currently verifying whether she jumped from the hospital building or tragically lost her balance and fell from the staircase. Detailed answers will emerge once our investigation and the autopsy report are complete."
